The article is based on the material of the F.I. Tyutchev’s early lyrics and reflects the specifics of the image of the sea
that systematically has connection with the categories of chaos and death. At the same time, there is a possibility of
its identification with the elemental forces and ontology entirely. It is the reason why the interaction of the sea and
man is conflictual.
