S. 119-138Abstract: To date, it has been proven that Siberian and especially Tomsk periodicals acted as the primary conduit for the cultural development of Siberia from the 1890s to the 1910s. In particular, newspapers published translations of foreign literature, reviews of theatrical productions and literary and critical reviews related to foreign written culture. The Italian text of the Siberian pre-revolutionary press, on the one hand, is of interest regarding the verbal culture of the territory and regional cultural identity formed in the conditions on the frontier. On the other hand, the Russian-Italian dialogue performed by journalists of Siberian publications deserves special attention as a precedent for the resonant reception characteristic of the turn from the nineteenth to the twentieth century, which represents a special stage in the history of intercultural contact.
