Abstract. The article describes the role of teaching students how to understand
English puns, the need to include authentic materials containing such puns in the programs of the English-related disciplines. Also, this article discusses possibilities
of implementing such a component within a campus course and provides
a short description of the developed one aimed at studying the phenomenon
of English humour in puns.

В статье рассматривается роль обучения пониманию игры
слов в английском языке, необходимость включения в программу учебных
дисциплин по английскому языку аутентичных материалов, содержащих
игру слов. Обсуждается возможность реализации данного компонента
обучения в рамках кампусного курса, приводится аннотация разработанного кампусного курса, направленного на изучение феномена игры слов.
