Such issues as the annual Putevoditel’ po Sibiri i Aziatskoi Rossii (“A Guide to Siberia and the Asian Part of Russia”), the monthly journals (Dorozhnik po Sibiri i Aziatskoi Rossii (“A Road Guide to Siberia and Asian Russia”), and Sibirskii nabliudatel’ (“The Siberian Observer”) are analyzed. They contained French texts, translations of Russian texts into French, and translations from French. The theme of the French sections is studied along with particularities of the translations. The principles of the usage of French in pre-revolutionary publications are analyzed.
