Mutual influences (economic, social, cultural, etc.) are considered. The main directions of the development are outlined. Both benefits and problems of these relationships are analyzed. The paper involves the results of the network project “Universities and local communities: perspectives of the innovative development of the territory” (ISE-Center, Moscow, 2012).
